A 5.9 magnitude earthquake centred in Afghanistan at a depth of 150 km has been reported late Friday (April 3, 2026). Tremors were felt in several parts of Delhi NCR, Suresh Gaddale of the National Centre for Seismology confirmed to The Hindu.

See Details on AmazonThe tremors, which lasted a few seconds, occurred around 9:45 p.m. and they were felt in several parts of north India, including Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Haryana, officials said. There were no immediate reports of any damage.
The epicentre of the quake was Afghanistan, at a Latitude of 36.398 degrees North and a Longitude of 70.878 degrees East, the official said.
The depth of the quake was 150 km, he added.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department’s National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) said that the quake was recorded at 9:13 p.m., with a depth of 190 kilometres.
